J’Zhirr reaches the broodlair. He sees Gunmar on his knees and being attacked by the bear that he is hunting. A giant frostbite spider joins in the fight. It ignores the bear and focuses on Gunmar, almost as if it is giving the bear a helping hand. Are the bear and the spider buddies?
Gunmar is weakened by the dual attackers so it looks like J’Zhirr will have to step in.
J’Zhirr refuses Lord Harkon’s blood and he cast a spell banishing J’Zhirr from Castle Volkihar. J’Zhirr reappears outside, near where he left the boat. This one has no other choice but to talk the boat back to the mainland.
This one’s only regret is that he does not have the opportunity to say goodbye to Serana. Harkon does not seem to be a particularly loving parent and this one is worried that Serana will suffer at his hands. However, Serana has shown that she is more than capable of taking care of herself so J’Zhirr will just have to trust that she is alright. This one wonders if he will see her again.
It is snowing when J’Zhirr reaches the mainland so he seeks shelter in a nearby cave. Unfortunately a pack of wolves also has the same idea.
J’Zhirr sneaks around the room and finds that some of the seats are still occupied by their undead owners. J’Zhirr counts five skeletons and one Draugr Death Overlord. The skeletons will be easy to dispose of but the Draugr Death Overlord is the most powerful type of draugr in Skyrim. He will not be so easy to bring down. So J’Zhirr decides to deal with the skeletons first to even out the odds.
J’Zhirr furred feet makes no sound on the stone floor. The skeletons did not detect this one as he sneaks up to the sleeping occupants and brings them down with a single strike. However, even a sneak attack fails to stagger the Draugr Death Overlord. So J’Zhirr retreats to a dark corner to shoot arrows at it. Serana, who has been following secretly behind, joins in the fight. With her help, it is easier to defeat the Draugr Death Overlord.
J’Zhirr arrives at a big room. There are steps on all sides leading down to a fire pit. Four carved pillars stand at the corners of the pit. Platforms and chairs above indicated the presence of spectators so this room was probably used for a ceremonial purpose.
“Stay on your guard,” Serana warns.
J’Zhirr too has a bad feeling about this place so he asks Serana to wait while he investigates the room. Serana agrees do so although very reluctantly.
J’Zhirr bumps into a brazier and discovers that it it movable. When he pushes it into the correct position, the brazier lights up and a purplish-blue flame burns. This in turn triggers another path to light up, indicating where the next brazier should be placed. So this one follows the instructions by the unknown builder of this structure and places all the braziers in the correct position. When all the braziers are burning, the platform lowers, revealing a stone monolith in the center.
J’Zhirr does not know what magic is it that creates the blue fire. J’Zhirr is surrounded by the fire but when he walks through it, he feels no heat. The previously unlit braziers that J’Zhirr walked past minutes ago, are now glowing with the same blue light. J’Zhirr waits, but nothing else happened.
