J’Zhirr refuses Lord Harkon’s blood and he cast a spell banishing J’Zhirr from Castle Volkihar. J’Zhirr reappears outside, near where he left the boat. This one has no other choice but to talk the boat back to the mainland.
This one’s only regret is that he does not have the opportunity to say goodbye to Serana. Harkon does not seem to be a particularly loving parent and this one is worried that Serana will suffer at his hands. However, Serana has shown that she is more than capable of taking care of herself so J’Zhirr will just have to trust that she is alright. This one wonders if he will see her again.
It is snowing when J’Zhirr reaches the mainland so he seeks shelter in a nearby cave. Unfortunately a pack of wolves also has the same idea.
The predators in this region are more aggressive. Perhaps because it is harder for them to catch prey in this barren landscape. Soon J’Zhirr finds himself surrounded by a pack of wolves. There is a majestic white member who seems to be the leader of the pack. J’Zhirr hopes its fur will fetch more gold than its pack members.
J’Zhirr reaches the outskirts of Winterhold Hold. Around J’Zhirr are great stretches of ice and snow. There are steep mountains to the left and deep oceans to the right. Some trees remain in this icy wasteland but they get fewer and fewer as this one pushes more and more northwards. Even though like Haafingar, Whiterun Hold is located in the northern part of Skyrim, the region is less forested. J’Zhirr can smell the briny scent of the sea as this one travels along the road.
A wolf howls. Why does a wolf howl? Perhaps for the same reason that man sings.
A simple sound made by the vocal chords of a wild animal. It receives no training and yet it instinctively hits the right notes.
A wolf’s howl is simple and yet majestic; gentle and yet awe-inspiring; and always a little lonely.
A wolf’s howl can travel many miles. Many a times, a traveler can hear a howl and yet sees no sight of the singer. For a brief moment, the howl connects the listener and the singer, and both exist in the same space even though they may be physically many miles apart. Then the magic fades and the connection is broken. Each goes his own way, and the other’s presence becomes a fading memory.
In Skyrim, danger lurks around every corner. Even on the main roads, one may be attacked by bandits or wild animals. However if one is careful, one can usually avoid some of the dangers that awaits an adventurer. If one is unable to avoid these dangers, then one better pray that he can run fast enough.
