J’Zhirr comes across a Stormcloak camp in Hjaalmarch. A couple of Stormcloaks are roasting a skeever over an open fire. The commander, Arrald Frozen-Heart stays in his tent, pondering over the map. J’Zhirr uses the anvil in the camp to sharpen his weapons and uses the workbench to mend his armor. This one is not a Stormcloak but the quartermaster does not seem to mind J’Zhirr using his tools.
J’Zhirr leaves Meeko at Breezehome. This way, J’Zhirr knows that Meeko will be safe and taken care of.
Outside Whiterun, J’Zhirr encounters Uthgerd the Unbroken. She seems to be in a hurry and does not stop. Perhaps it is just as well, for she has a caustic tongue and is always looking for a fight.
J’Zhirr decides to make a stop at Whiterun. J’Zhirr finds Bjorlam once again waiting for customers outside the city. Business must be slow for he has brought a book to read. Bjorlam is so engrossed in his book that he barely raises his head as J’Zhirr walks past him.
The mercenary walks and walks, never stopping to rest. J’Zhirr gets rather bored with following him for nothing happens. This one spots a horse standing by the side of the road and stops to talk to it. It is a most interesting conversation and J’Zhirr loses track of time. When this one looks up, the mercenary is nowhere to be seen.
J’Zhirr follows the sounds of the fighting and finds an Orc bandit and an Imperial soldier engaged in a duel. The bodies at their feet reveals what had happened to the missing bandits. When the Orc thrusts his sword at the Imperial, J’Zhirr rushes in and attacks the bandit. And so the last of the bandits falls. J’Zhirr is now all set to collect his reward from Jarl Laila Law-Giver.
But where did the Imperials come from? J’Zhirr scouts around and finds an Imperial camp nearby. This is interesting, J’Zhirr does not know that the Imperials had set up camp in The Rift. Perhaps all the better to keep an eye on the Stormcloaks?
There are no sentries standing guard so J’Zhirr takes a walk around the camp. It seems pretty quiet and J’Zhirr only sees a quartermaster and a few horses. The other soldiers must be out on patrol. The quartermaster asks no questions when J’Zhirr sells back the Imperial armors and weapons that this one removed from the newly dead at the Ruins of Bthalft.
On the way to Riften, J’Zhirr comes across a jester standing beside a cart. This one has never seen anyone dressed in a jester outfit before. The jester looks rather upset and cries, “Agh! Bother and befuddle! Stuck here! Stuck! My mother, my poor mother. Unmoving. At rest, but too still!”
J’Zhirr sees a wagon wheel lying next to the cart and decides to stop and see if he can lend a hand to a fellow traveler. The jester says, “Poor Cicero is stuck. Can’t you see? I was transporting my dear, sweet mother. Well, not her. Her corpse! She’s quite dead. I’m taking mother to a new home. A new crypt. But… aggh! Wagon wheel! Damnedest wagon wheel! It broke! Don’t you see?”
Cicero the jester says there is a farmhouse nearby but the owner, Loreius, refused to help. J’Zhirr will have to try and persuade him.
