It is so dark that J’Zhirr almost walked into a skeleton standing quietly in a corner. The good news is that the skeleton does not notice J’Zhirr and this one is able to back quietly away.
Once at a safe distance, J’Zhirr observes the skeleton. He discovers that the skeleton is not alone and there are two other undead standing near it.
J’Zhirr wonders if he can sneak past them?
J’Zhirr spots a group of people standing by the side of the road. Curious about what they are up to, this one goes up to them. Seeing J’Zhirr, the group immediately attacks. As J’Zhirr fights, he feels his life being leeched away and quickly realizes that he is not facing a typical foe. These are vampires!
Where is a Vigilant of Stendarr when you need one?
Using the key, J’Zhirr opens the door to Potema’s Sanctum. In one of the chambers, J’Zhirr encounters a nightstalker, a more powerful type of vampire. Her knowledge of ice and lightning spells makes her a dangerous enemy. Then as if the odds are not high enough, she also reanimates some draugrs to fight by her side.
Hours later, J’Zhirr arrives at a room containing a dead draugr sitting on a throne. Unfortunately the room also contained a vampire fledging, hidden from view by an out jutting rock. A vampire fledging is the weakest kind of vampire but even a weak vampire knows how to reanimate a dead body. The closest dead body unfortunately happens to be a powerful draugr deathlord.
As both of them lunge at J’Zhirr, this one swings his greatsword madly. Somehow, this one survives the fight and lives to pick a key off the dead vampire’s ashes.
Upon entering Potema’s Catacombs, J’Zhirr hears Potema’s voice. She greets him and thanks him for releasing her from the binding and as a reward, promises to save a space for him in her undead army. There goes this one’s plan to sneak up on her.
The trail leads downwards, going deeper into the earth. Vampires and draugrs roam the corridors, guarding the way into the heart of Potema’s Catacombs. J’Zhirr finds two draugrs and a vampire blocking his way. What seems like an unavoidable fight is made easier when this one realizes that oil covers the floor and a burning vase hangs from the ceiling. Breaking the vase is as easy as shooting an arrow from the bow.
J’Zhirr finds Movarth Piquine in a large chamber in the deepest part of the lair. He is surrounded by other vampires and thralls so J’Zhirr spends a lot of time taking them out one by one. Movarth is a master vampire who is a few centuries old and J’Zhirr has to use a lot of arrows to kill him.
J’Zhirr has heard about Movarth. This one read about him in Immortal Blood and thought that he was just a character in a story. So he is real after all. It is ironic that Movarth used to be a vampire hunter before he became one himself. If this one recalls the story correctly, Movarth fell to a Cyrodiil vampire at the end of the book.
